Anambra APC NASS Candidate Onunkwo Targets 200,000 Voters

All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Aguata Federal Constituency, Chief Johnbosco Onunkwo, has commenced voter education and sensitisation programs targeting to increase the number of registered voters in the area to over 200,000 voters.

According to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Portal, Aguata Federal Constituency has 155,881 registered voters as at the last election in the area, with 150,573 voters who have collected their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) recording 98,60 percent compliance in the area.

Onunkwo, who disclosed this to reporters, said that there are more eligible voters who are yet to register with INEC, adding that there are also those who have attained voting age, hence the need for mobilisation and sensitisation programs ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The figure is based on what is with INEC, and there is an urgent need to carry out sensitisation programs and voter education in Aguata Federal Constituency because it is a known fact that there are more people who are yet to register with INEC.

“I have commenced the process, and we have foot soldiers who have been holding Town Hall meetings in the Communities talking to people about the need to obtain their PVCs, and we are looking at increasing the number to over 200,000 registered voters.”

Onunkwo contended that electorates can only enthrone their choice of leadership by being participants in the electoral process, adding that it is only when one has their PVC that they can influence the exercise.

“It is not by staying at home and talking when you do not have the power to change the system, and that power is your PVC because politics is local “, he said.

Onunkwo further expressed confidence that he would emerge as the winner of the coming National Assembly elections, promising to make laws that would enhance the socioeconomic development of Aguata Federal Constituency.

He also called for the passage of a law making Vocational Education compulsory in the Nigerian school system and curriculum.

“I have been around and have made meaningful contributions towards the growth of Aguata Federal Constituency, and with that, I am confident that my good people of Aguata Federal Constituency would elect me into the Green Chambers.

“At the Green Chambers, I will champion the inclusion of Vocational Education in our Constitution and Educational system, making it compulsory at the Primary and Secondary school level.

“This would help fight crimes and criminality in our country because our youths do not have skills, and those skills can be acquired through vocational education and skills acquisition to make them become functional members of society,” he noted.
